When planning senior portraits, a lot of people immediately think they need a picture perfect location somewhere far away. But sometimes the most beautiful places are the ones we pass every day.
For this session, we explored different corners of Tulia and found so much variety without ever having to travel far. From open fields and tall grasses to colorful flowers, greenery, and even a few unexpected spots, every location offered a completely different look.
That’s one of my favorite things about photographing seniors in small towns like Tulia. There is beauty everywhere if you know where to look.
Creating Variety Without Leaving Town
One of the biggest questions I get about senior photos is, “Where should we go?”
My answer is usually: start close to home.
A great senior portrait experience isn’t just about the location. It’s about choosing places that match your personality, your style, and the feeling you want your photos to have.
For this session, we created several different looks throughout the day:
A bright, joyful look in a sunny field with a classic white dress and boots surrounded by trees and tall grass.
A fun and colorful outfit paired with a brick backdrop covered in flowers and greenery for a more playful feel.
A relaxed, everyday look using natural greenery, flowers, and simple sitting poses to create something more casual and true to personality.
A soft, feminine pink dress surrounded by matching flowers with the sunlight shining through for a dreamy summer feel.
And finally, a unique country inspired setting with open fields and horses that felt right at home in the Texas Panhandle.

Senior Photos in Downtown Tulia
One of my favorite things about downtown Tulia is how many different backdrops we can find in just a few blocks. It’s amazing how much character is packed into a small area. Brick walls, colorful doors, storefronts, and little hidden corners all make beautiful settings that add personality and keep your gallery feeling fresh. It’s just one more reminder that some of the best senior photo locations are often right in your own hometown.
